At
Home
  • If you buy hard unripe avocados keep them in your kitchen counter near fruit like bananas, mangoes, and melons so that they ripen faster.
  • Squeeze your avocados daily to determine when they are ripening.
  • Once you feel your avocado is ripe you can store them in your refrigerator to extend its life about 2-5 days more than if you keep them in your kitchen counter.

4

HOW TO SELECT AT THE STORE

The color of the avocado does NOT determine ripeness unlike other fruits. Avocados are green at the beginning of the season and turn darker at the end of the season. To check the ripeness of an avocado give it a gentle squeeze.Look for avocados that do not have deep scars that expose the flesh. Exterior scars and bumps are not a problem.

7

BEER PAIRING

The fizz and acidity that come with a beer’s carbonation will help cut through the rich fat of avocados. Try a Pilsner, a strong IPA, or a Belgian-style beers.
